Indian Orthodox services were introduced to the valley of the sun in the early 1990’s, as part of an Ecunemical community.
As the number of Indian Orthodox families started increasing, the community requested the American Diocese of the Orthodox Church of India for a Malankara Orthodox Church in Phoenix By the grace of the Almighty Father, a Kalpana was issued and the St. Thomas Orthodox Church of India, Phoenix was established in January 2006 under the jurisdiction of the American Diocese of the Malankra Orthodox Church.. Rev. Fr. Philip Abraham was appointed as the Vicar and President of St. Thomas Orthodox Church of India, Phoenix. He also serves as the Vicar and President of the St Mary’s Orthodox church in Los Angeles. Since establishment of the Church, the congregation has grown multi-fold, continuing to serve the spiritual needs to the ever growing community.
